LINDA ROSS
Linda Ross: My own experiences as a mother, writer, and advocate for families navigating disability have deepened my appreciation for the importance of being heard, understood, and supported. Through Living Letters, I am exploring the psychology of gratitude, the history and enduring significance of personal correspondence, and the ways we can become more intentional in our relationships. My hope is that readers will think about the people who changed their lives, tell them what they mean, and recognize the difference they can make for someone else.
What makes someone unforgettable in our lives? And why do we so often leave the most important things unsaid? These questions led me to Living Letters: The Art of Saying What Matters, a forthcoming book inspired by twenty-five women who wrote letters to the women who changed their lives. Mothers, daughters, friends, mentors, and unexpected sources of encouragement appear in these stories. What interests me most is the influence behind gratitude expressed: the words, gestures, opportunities, and acts of kindness that continue to shape our lives long after they occur. I am also fascinated by the act of writing itself. In a world of instant messages and fleeting digital exchanges, what happens when we give someone our undivided attention, reflect on what they mean to us, and put those thoughts into words?
Write the letter. Live the letter!
